Room by Emma Donoghue #3 and Rescue by Anita Shreve #4

Webster is a paramedic in small town Vermont when he becomes intrigued with Sheila, a beautiful redhead who in injured in a car crash while drunk. Quickly the two become involved with a pregnancy as the result. however Sheila has problems resulting in their separation so Webster is left to raise his baby daughter on his own. This is one of my favorite authors who always creates characters who feel like old friends or the people next door. I enjoyed it very much.

This is the best book I've read in a very long time!
Written in the voice of five year old Jack, he and his "Ma" are prisoners of Old Nick, in Room. Ma was kidnapped nine years ago as a college student so the world for her and her son has been reduced to the size of a small shed and Old Nick's almost nightly visits. Ma devises a plan for their escape requiring a high level of bravery on Jack's part, leaving the reader on the edge of her seat. I could barely put this book down and didn't want it to end.
